I've known for a while that if I'm ever going to get serious about digital photography, I need to get a DSLR soon. In what may be a stroke of destiny, our former camera analyst, Terry Sullivan, sent a link to his Consumer Reports preview post on the Canon EOS 40D. The specs make me dizzy: 10 megapixels, a 3-inch live-view LCD, burst mode, and Canon's excellent CMOS sensor dust-cleaning system, and more.
If I can scrape together the necessary dollars (around $1300 (body only), around $200 more with a 28-135mm kit zoom lens), this may be the model for me. Take a look at Terry's story for lots of details on this camera, which will be reviewed soon at PCMag.com.
