It's always fun to check out Panasonic's notebook line. While ruggedness is generally a theme across their entries, the company's models run the gamut from incredibly heavy-duty tablets for folks such as paramedics and service workers to super-light ultraportables. Last night at an event in midtown Manhattan, the company showcased upgrades to three models.
On the ultraportable end, Panasonic's W7 and Y7 are both getting upgrades. The W7 has been upgraded to a a Core 2 Duo U7500, low-voltage, 1.06-GHz processor. The 14-inch Y7, one of the lightest notebooks in its class, also got an upgrade to a Core 2 Duo processor, plus support for an 800-MHz frontside bus and 801.11n wireless. The notebook also boasts an optical drive and up to 5 hours of battery life--not too shabby for an ultraportable. The non-rotating, heavy-duty T7 tablet is also getting a processor upgrade.
Optional fingerprint readers, Bluetooth, and wireless LAN are available for all three systems. Both the T7 and Y7 start at $2,099. and the Y7 starts at $2,499. More info is available at PC Mag.com.
