All things considered, Radiohead's to let users set the price has already proved rather savvy, if only for the deluge of added press coverage for what already promised to be one of 2007's best-publicized albums. Music magazine Paste is jumping on the price-it-yourself (PIY) bandwagon but is letting its readers choose what to pay for a yearly subscription. An eleven-issue subscription to the mag (plus the CD sampler that ships with every issue), which customarily runs $19.95, can be had for as little as $1.

Anyone paying more than the $19.95 price has been promised a shout-out in a future issue of the magazine.

We've recently seen a similar pitch from the producers of the indie flick 10 MPH, who are letting viewers price their own downloads of the comedic documentary.

Wave of the future, or just momentary bandwagon jumping? Your thoughts?
