According to High-Def Digest, the new Warner Bros. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix HD DVD due out Dec. 11 will include a "Community Screening" feature that will allow people to remotely view the movie via their own HD DVD players, over the Web (these players require an Internet connection).
Apparently users will have the option of using the remote control to text emoticons, to request pauses, fast-forwarding and other navigation, as well as more conventional messages ("Hermione is cute!" et cetera). I'm not sure whether this is truly ground-breaking, or just another example of how sad the "my Internet buddy" social networking movement really is.
The Blu-ray version will not have the community features, Warner Bros. said.
