Last night at the Canal Room in New York City's Soho, tech blog The Boy Genius Report (whose founder remains anonymous) celebrated its one-year anniversary and the launch of the AT&T Tilt with performances by hip-hop celebs DJ Clue, Just Blaze, and Fabolous. But it doesn't end there; P. Diddy, Freck Billionaire, and other big dogs also made appearances.

The night began just after 10 PM. Attendees mingled in the main hall while the house DJ spun. Soon Clue took over the tables, and the hip-hop stars poured in via an actual red carpet. They schmoozed it up with the media, got shout-outs over the mic from Clue, and scooped up their free Tilts (so jealous!). Most celebrity appearances followed this basic formula:

  • Big smile
  • Interview
  • Pose
  • Pose with Tilt
  • Give pounds to Clue
  • Proceed to party in VIP area
  • Around 1 AM, Fabolous took the stage and did about a 5-song set with Just Blaze deejaying for him. It was wild.

More post and pics after the jump.

I caught up with the legendary DJ Clue, and I couldn't resist talking tech with him. Turns out he was more than happy to show off his deejaying rig; pics below show him posing with his MacBook Pro, which is loaded with Serato Scratch Live. You see how messy his desktop is? Man, what a workaholic! Clue--hit me up next week, lemme know what you think of OSX Leopard!

So why did all these big dogs come out? I've come to the conclusion that either hip-hop guys love using an HTC hand-held loaded with Window Mobile 6's direct-push-e-mail capabilities when synced with an Exchange 2007 Server...

    or...

the Boy Genius knows how to throw it down! I take my hat off to you BGR. Thanks for a good time!
