Need another reason to get the latest 40GB Playstation 3? Try this new selling point: It's more energy efficient than the last one. According to Engadget, Sony has put the 65-nm version (rather than the older 90-nm version) of IBM's Cell chip into the newest model. Using the smaller chip will save money at both ends, as it will be cheaper to manufacture (fewer materials) and cheaper to power: The Playstation 3 will use about 135 watts, down from 200. And since it uses less power, it will run cooler and quieter.
I can't really call gaming "green"--I hear that reading a book uses less power--but I can't deny its appeal. So if you're in the market for a new system (or your first), you could do worse.
