Well, we're still reeling from the shock, here at the PC Mag offices, but I think I managed to shake of the daze long enough to post on the subject of Microsoft's much-rumor (and leaked) new line of Zunes.

Announced late last night (early this morning, really), the company's second round of anything but iPod fodder has branched out into nano territory, with two new flash-based players at 4- a 8GB ($149.99 and $199.99, respectively). The players feature a 1.8-inch color screen (to the new nano's 2 inches) and come in pink, green, and red.

On the other end of the spectrum, the hard drive-based Zune has been upped to 80GB (for $249.99) and 3.2-inch screen.

Both models have also upped the squirting ante, with Wifi networking and ability to sync to your PC sans wire.

The players will be available next month. For more info, check out the news story over at PC Mag.com

Very nice. On the up side, they finally caught wind of people wanting to be able to sync with their computers wirelessly, and browse the web wirelessly as well. Definitely features that should have been in the original Zune but weren't. Now, if only people could download music wirelessly instead of (I'm going to regret this) squirting directly to one another, then the Zune might go somewhere.

Although I have heard that the Zune makes up a sizable chunk of the mp3 player market. I've heard that...can't say I've seen it. Either way, good on Microsoft for competing with a good product. I just hope they ditch that god awful brown.

The green color was a great idea. I think they should start to bundle the Zune with the xbox to get more sales.

Ack. That's the last thing they need to do - bundle a loss leader with another loss leader? Dunno...you think that's a good idea really? Maybe if they started giving them away...
