Am I too old to still get excited about stuff like this? Probably, but a healthy acceptance of such things is one of the many perks of working for a site with a tagline like "a gadget guide by geeks, for geeks." Thankfully, there are folks out there who are even bigger geeks, who also know their way around a tool shed a bit more than yours truly.
Andy Woerner is one such person, and thanks to a happy combination of the above traits, and ample free time, he's just unveiled a 21-foot working replica of a Star Wars X-Wing. This thing is powered by four-rockets and actually flies. In fact, he's going to prove it out in California, next week.
Gizmodo has an interview with Woerner and a full gallery of his labor of love.,/p>
The force is indeed strong with this one.

See now this is what I am talking about.
building futuristic things.
We humans are craving future.
we are tired of auto makers creating future cars but yet we humans never get to own, and always get teased with something so cool.
I wish they made this into an actual size of a real X-Wing. and use it to scout enemy territory.
And with all the knowledge humans have and technology of lazers , we should actually build lazer weapons already.
Imagine this !...
Iran decides to have war with us, and they decide to invade us. So they are now reaching USA soil,
BUT WAIT !!! - cue mystery music.
they are thinking about it twice, because they have just spotted The Air Force with the new X-Wing Fighters.
Now they hear some transmission on their radio.
"(This is the captian of X-Wing Air Force Alpha Team - You are entering United States Soil without clearance, if you proceed, we will have no options left but to defend our selfs)"
Then the terrorist get a glimpse of whats to come, "CUE DOG-FIGHT MUSIC"
"Broadcasted transmission"
( X-Wing Squadrons Team-Alpha in Formation )
Terrorist views this, and they retreat at full throddle.
Hahahahaa. What a Imagination...
We can only wish right?
Since companies don't want to be in the future.

When he finishes an actual airworthy X-Wing, let me know. I know of a canyon near Big Bend, TX that resembles the Death Star's equatorial trench I'd be happy to fly it through!
