Roadwired Skooba Superbungee Strap

I've tested and reviewed many a laptop case before, but never just the strap, although that's one of the most important elements in terms of comfort. Who cares how much you can cram into a case if it's going to start digging into your shoulder five minutes into your trip? My biggest complaint about laptop cases and travel bags in general is that either the strap is so uncomfortable you never ever want to carry it again, or it starts to fray after only a few uses, so you can't depend on it for longer trips.

Roadwired, maker of laptop cases and other accessories, has the solution: the Skooba Superbungee Strap is one bad-ass accessory. As the name indicates, Roadwired has incorporated bungee cords into the design--these absorb shock and help distribute weight. Not only that, but the Strap's got hella padding (take a look after the jump). Best of all, it manages to be lightweight too. In my informal tests, in which I stuffed various bags with way too much stuff, I found the Superbungee Strap to be very comfortable, putting minimal strain on my shoulder. It also stayed in place, so I didn't have to worry about the bag moving around during my commute, which consists of two subways and lots of stair-climbing. I tried the Strap out with a few of my own bags, including a duffel bag that has caused me lots of back and shoulder discomfort in the past, and could literally feel the improvement.

To use the strap, you simply clip it on to bags that have clip-on straps already. I wish there were a way to make it compatible with bags that don't offer a shoulder strap at all nor any easy way to attach one. The Strap itself is adjustable, with a range of about 30 to 46 inches in length. The Superbungee Strap sells for $25.95; a little steep, yes, for just a strap, but your back and shoulders will thank you. I bet it will outlast many of your bags anyway. An added bonus: the Superbungee is standard on all new Skooba Satchels and Seventeen 2.0 bags.

These hooks should fit with most of your shoulder bags.
