Tired of interminable movie previews that you can't skip? FBI warnings on media you own? Add another annoyance to the list: DVD shopping.
The Associated Press reports that the upcoming HD DVD edition of Evan Almighty will include the option to buy products, including the inspirational "toilet paper made of recycled materials -- 12 rolls for $14". Or would you like a rain bucket? The DVD will link to the Universal Studios Web page, where the purchases can be made.
I suppose we can be somewhat satisfied that, for now, the intrusion is so unsophisticated. Imagine a (shudder) Gray's Anatomy: Shopping Edition boxed set that would optionally highlight Meredith's comforter, allowing you to buy it from Target. Don't think they aren't thinking about this, people.

I think there is a lot of stuff people would want to buy from dvds if they could easily do it.
Here's a short list:
Star Wars Light Sabers - they would need a whole other package of shopping DVDs for Star Wars
Dukes of Hazzard - replica General Lee, Daisy Duke cutoffs, etc.
And that reminds me, continuing with Grey's Anatomy - Meredith's panties from the first season cliff-hanger.
