Barbie Fashion Fever Shopping Boutique PlaysetThis is really sad. What is Mattel thinking? The company recently released its Barbie Fashion Fever Shopping Boutique Playset, which lets Barbie fans set up their own store and use a "Fashion Fever" credit card to buy Barbie clothes and accessories. However, "Once the [credit card] balance hits zero, it will reset so you can continue to shop." Say whaaaaat? That's teaching young girls that you can rack up your credit card with no consequences!

In the actual Barbie Boutique Playset commercial I found on YouTube, the girl announces that "you'll never run out of money!" Gee, in a perfect world that'd be nice! But I just don't understand how this is fun or educational? My favorite board game as a young girl was Mall Madness, where you were given a credit card and went to each store to buy the most items. But it was very realistic, in that some items were out of stock, or you had to go to the ATM to get more cash, or had to visit the pizza shop to take a break and eat. This Barbie game though, how realistic is it really?

The Barbie Fashion Fever Shopping Boutique Playset ($36.44 at Amazon) includes three stylish outfits, rotating pole that can hold up to 20 clothing and accessory pieces, a display stand that doubles as the cashier counter, and the aforementioned credit card.

Oh good lord that's a tragedy in the making. :(

It reminds me of my hatred for those "Life takes Visa" commercials. Argh. I wish every time I charged up my debit card it would magically get "reset" so I can keep buying stuff.

Well, it's no surprise that toys are destroying our kids future, but its up to the parents to keep children away from crap like this. we all know the dreaded teen games like Race car game and grand theft auto teach kids that violating street laws and stealing cars is fun an games, In todays world people are doing anything to make money...but its up to the parents to control what their children play with...
