(The Amazing) James Randi, who is famous for his $1 million challenge to anyone who can prove evidence of the occult or paranormal under controlled conditions, has extended his challenge to the black magic of the audio industry: high-end speaker cables.
In a post to the James Randi Educational Foundation newsletter, Swift, an unnamed JREF member (Randi, we presume) said he extended the $1 million prize to anyone who can prove that the $7,800 Pear Cable "Anjou" cables (that's for 12 feet of cable) produced audio quality demonstrably better than a similar pair of Monster Cables (which, as the JREF sort of observes, are actually the current poster child for questionable marketing claims).
Specifically, the group calls out Dave Clark, editor of the audio review publication Positive Feedback Online, and John Atkinson of Stereophile Magazine, the latter of which apparently backed out from a similar challenge. Both reportedly gave the Pear Cables glowing reviews.

They say tech evangelists, evangelical Christians and audiophiles are all the same: its a matter of faith! So if they need to be shifted , what is needed is a good whack of reality...
For me, this is how things will look like in '08: cant get any better than this: CNet's 5 big home audio.
