This is about a month old, but I thought of this today when my IBM notebook wobbled on the edge of my keyboard tray and almost fell: that's an accident, and that ain't covered by a warranty. Asus, on the other hand, began offering an accidental damage warranty on its laptops beginning last month: Sept. 10 to be precise. "Accidents" cover spills (coffee or other liquid), drops, and other fumbles.
There are a couple catches: the biggest being the retailers that do not honor the warranty: Best Buy, Micro Center, and The Source by Circuit City in Canada. And be careful that you're registering an Asus-branded notebook. If it says"Built on ASUS," "ASMobile," "Powered by ASUS," or the "Eee PC", you're not covered.
