monahammer.gifThis is one of those news stories that requires a disclaimer. We don't condone this kind of behavior, and we're sure the Washington Post who originally picked up the story doesn't either, but damned if we hadn't dreamt up a similar course of action during one of our many bouts of utter frustration at our local cable/Internet/phone provider.

Pushed to her boiling point by Comcast, 75-year-old Virginia resident, Mona Shaw (lovingly christened "The Hammer" by The Post) went down to the cable company's local branch in Manassas, and took out her aggressions on a service representative's PC with her husband's claw hammer.

Shaw was cuffed, issued a $345 fine, and ultimately got the hammer back from the police.

Oh, and she got her phone service back, too.

GOOD FOR HER!!!! I had comcast in the past and by far they were the worst cable provider I have EVER done business with, but instead of a hammer, I got Dish Network, and have lived hsppily ever after!! Lord knows I though about doing the same thing!!!!

She is a true HERO: someone with the balls to stand up to these major corporations that piss on their customers when it comes to customer service. That manager should be fired for sneaking out without having the common decency to talk to them... I don't care if it was 5 min or two hours they had to wait. If Comcast was smart they would use this manager as a teaching tool to the rest of their employees: mistreat the customer and find yourself without a job!

Is the picture actually showing her with the real hammer? You mean she pose for that shot?

She got her phone service with Verizon, not Comcast. Don't blame her for switching. Too bad this article didnt give complete details like the Washington Post story did.

I recall a time when I also wanted to smash Comcast's lights out! And also regarding its horrendous "phone service."

Took 5 hours to install, and when done, caller ID would not work. So when I asked the installer to fix it, he told me "No, I've been here long enough, you have to take care of it. Call Comcast."

Next scene: He UNinstalled everything and I stayed with Verizon.

Comcast indeed IS the worst provider in the industry. Its "customer service" is an oxymoron.

With all the complaints about Comcast Cable & Internet, WHY would ANYONE think that the phone service would be better than Verizon or ATT?
Stick with what works, You'll save money and aggravation in the long run...

(PS: NOT a phone CO employee)

I can not blame her. I get it free, Cable TV & Internet Service, since I am a injuried ex-employee. It was Time-Warner and now Comcast and the picture and internet speed has gone down. COMCAST SUCKS !!!
