No, Daft Punk didn't lay an egg. That's Rolly, Sony's hyped-up flashy, dancing, Bluetooth-enabled 1GB MP3 player. And if you live in Japan, have $350, and a penchant for odd technology with questionable value, you'll be able to pick yours up at the end of this month. Oh, and if you don't come to your senses before heading to the store to pick one up, bring a little extra cash, because if you want the carrying case and charger, it's gonna cost you extra.
In case you haven't yet heard the hype or seen the video, the Rolly seems to be an odd marriage of a Wiimote and a Sansa Shaker, packed in a rolling package that bears more than a passing resemblance to the Miuro robot speaker, sans iPod dock. It's got motion-control sensors, lets you change tracks by twisting and shaking it, and sports internal speakers. Despite all that tasty tech, I still think the Rolly would get annoying in about 14 seconds. It would be fun to use it to frighten and befuddle your pets, but I'm not sure that's worth $350. I wouldn't spend a dime over $300 to do that.

This is the greatest thing they've ever made. It plays all your favorite music and dances around any given space. You can't go wrong with that!
