Yeah, it's a penny slot, but like most of the modern slots, you can spend a lot quite quickly: up to $3 a spin. Of course, the compelling thing about it is the Star Wars interface: not only are there movie-themed icons, but a number of bonus games that use scenes from the movie. (Original trilogy only -- no Jar-Jar or Anakin to spoil the fun.) Not that I saw any of them when I played it; that thing Force-pulled $10 from my wallet in about five minutes. The woman down at the end of the row fared much better, however.

Like many slots, you can play multiple lines, with a number of credits per line. I saw the middle tier of what Casino Player says are three tiers: "Betting one to four coins per line will take you to Tatooine, Luke Skywalker's home planet. (That's where droids R2-D2 and C-3PO land and meet the film's hero, along with legendary Jedi warrior Obi-Wan Kenobi.) Betting five to nine credits per line will switch the screen to the Cantina, the interplanetary bar where Skywalker meets Harrison Ford... er, I mean, mercenary pilot Han Solo, and his hairy alien companion Chewbacca. Betting the maximum 10 coins per line switches the theme of the primary game to the Death Star sequence, with sights and sounds reflecting the film's climactic battle."

Each tier plays little audio clips from that scene in the movie. Playing the maximum bet also adds little touches, like replacing the "Bet" icons with stormtrooper heads.

Hit three 'Death Star Bonus" icons, and the player has an opportunity to "play" a bonus sequence, where he initially gets to shoot two of three stormtroopers. Picking the troopers lights two arrows on the "Death Star" above, which spins. If the player hits the bonuses, they're applied to the line score; if the player hits the Death Star "superlaser" dish, he moves to a second round, where the same shooting/picking sequence is repeated. Hitting the dish again triggers the "Death Star" attack sequence, where hitting the superlaser a third time triggers a 1,000-credit ($10) jackpot.

There's also a nifty little "lightsaber" battle that takes place between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader, depending on if you hit the right icons. Bet on the right character to win the battle, and you win a higher bonus.

And, of course, there's the progressive $1,000,000 jackpot. Casino Player notes that the house edge is far higher than a dollar slot (an average return of 88 percent) but that payouts increase as more credits are wagered. And, of course, there's just the fun of playing (again) Star Wars.
