The Santa Rosa platform resides in practically every laptop in the market right now. You'll recognize them by the stylish Centrino Duo stickers pasted on the palm rests of each laptop. Right around the corner is the Montevina platform, a glimpse for those who are interested in seeing what's coming up for laptops next year. At Fall IDF, Intel showed off the first Montevina laptop. All the components reside in a laptop chassis furnished by Sword--not exactly your household name but good enough.
The Montevina platform will comprise of several things (just like the Santa Rosa platform) including the 45nm Penryn processor, the new Cantiga chipset (which will have native support for Blu-Ray and HD DVD, as well as improved 3D game play), and WiMax. I should have the first laptop reviews out with the Montevina platform by first quarter 2008.
