One of this week's more interesting reports/rumors is BusinessWeek's report that Apple may be considering its own wireless network, cutting AT&T out of the picture.
Is it likely? Even BusinessWeek doesn't really think so. Why? Because of all the public and private griping about AT&T's handling of the iPhone, Apple would like AT&T to take the heat, and not Apple: "Rather than focus all of Apple's entrepreneurial instincts on creating the next innovative gizmo, the company would be on the hook for the massive operational headaches that go with provisioning traffic, activating new subscribers, and fielding their angry calls when service glitches occur," quoth BusinessWeek.
Makes sense.
