Toshiba HD-A35

Toshiba yesterday announced three new HD DVD players, building on the success of its first and second generation Toshiba HD-A1 and Toshiba HD-XA2. The HD-A3, HD-A30, and the HD-A35 are all set to sell for less than $500, bringing high definition players in the reach of more consumers.

The entry-level HD-A3 player features 1080i output capability, while the more advanced HD-A30 and HD-A35 will output 1080p resolution (1920 x 1080p). Both the A30 and A35 models are capable of outputing signals at 1080p/24 frames per second--the frame rate at which films are traditionally captured. Both of these models also feature "CE-Link" (HDMI-CEC), allowing two-way control between the HD DVD player and a compatible TV through an HDMI connection.
