When I was in college, our dorm/apartment building had strict rules about candles: They were strictly off limits. Of course we completely ignored that rule (hah! can't bust me now, can ya?), but in hindsight it probably was a good idea. A 20-story building filed with clumsy, drunken undergrads stumbling amongst open flames. Hmmm.
If only we'd had these LED candles from ThinkGeek (from $7.99), we could have saved so many carpets, crappy Ikea couches, and Target throw pillows.
The cool part about these battery powered 4- and 6-inch "candles" is how you switch them on and off: After the master on/off switch it flipped, a little exhale onto the "flame" is all ti takes to either light or extinguish the light. And, according to ThinkGeek, one set of AA batteries will last for 300 hours.
To complete the illusion, the candles have a waxy coating, and the LED lights flicker just like real candlelight.
