Nothing caps off a busy Monday like a little patent infringement, and the latest heavyweights to battle it out over intellectual property are Sharp and Samsung.
Sharp filed suit against Samsung and several of its subsidiaries earlier today for infringing upon five patents relating to its liquid-crystal display (LCD) technology.
The complaint covers Samsung-distributed LCD modules, TVs monitors and mobile phones. Sharp wants Samsung to hand over a nice chunk of change and stop selling products that it claims infringe on Sharp patents. Sharp would also like a jury trial.
According to Sharp, the two sides have been battling it out behind the scenes since last year, but have "regrettably been unable to resolve this matter through negotiations." Pity.
