According to reports, the Asus Eee PC low-cost notebook will ship in September, at a higher price point than initially planned.
The sources for this are this DigiTimes article as well as this forum post at the oddly named EeeUser.com. We don't have any solid information on this ourselves as yet.
So far, the consensus seems to be that there will be be four models, priced at $199, $239, $349 and $369, with the $349 model focused at mainstream buyers. The EeeUser poster reports that the cheapest model will not be sold in the U.S., as the two-hour battery-life would turn off American audiences. However, another poster points out this link, which shows the $199 model still listed.
The specs seem to be relatively unchanged: a 7-inch LCD, storage ranging from 2 Gbytes to 4 Gbytes, and the ability to play Web video, including those from YouTube.

I don't see the $199 model listed at allasus.com... the lowest priced model mentioned is the $259.99 one. Maybe that retailer had the cheaper model listed and took it off. They are asking for a $150 nonrefundable deposit on the 701.
The site also notes, "Details are coming 08/23/07 - shipping set for Late September."
