It caught me by surprise when I first learned that Alvin and the Chipmunks--characters I grew up watching on TV--are going to star in their own live action/CGI movie (starring Jason Lee) come this December 14th. I guess they're trying to make a comeback like the Ninja Turtles! If that's not enough, this holiday marks the debut of the first Alvin and The Chipmunks video game. According to the press release, "The Alvin and the Chipmunks video game follows Alvin, Simon, & Theodore on their latest mission to play during the battle of the bands event 'Rockathonapalooza.' As the Chipmunks perform in each of the video game's musical levels -- from school proms to Burning Man to Forest Arenas to the ultimate, Rockathonapalooza -- players are challenged to keep in rhythm with the music." And what about their cute singing abilities? Don't worry, because the game also features their chipmunk voices singing songs like Blink 182's "All The Small Things," Elvis Presley's "Heartbreak Hotel," and REM's "Shiny Happy People." (Although shouldn't it be, "shiny happy chipmunks holding hands"?) The Alvin and the Chipmunks video game will be available for the PS2, Wii, DS, and PC on December 4th, 2007.
