greenpower.gifThat was fast. Kanguru just unveiled the Eco Drive, and now Western Digital has announced that they're tossing their hat in the environmentally-friendly ring with GreenPower, their own line of more efficient hard drives. The GreenPower can reduce power consumption up to 40% (compared to the, "world's most environmentally friendly hard drive" by Kanguru, which claims to reduce consumption by up to 75%), making it compliant with the new Energy Star 4.0 ratings.

The 3.5-inch drive comes in sizes up to 1TB and can save its users up to $10 per drive, per year, according to Western Digital. "Environmentally responsible storage?" Gotta love that tag line.
