[The Chief meets the King.]

Snarling, singing and wearing a pleather jacket across his armless shoulders, the WowWee Robotics Alive Elvis Presley robotic head stormed into PC Mag's office and proceeded to instantly creep out everyone on the floor.

A follow-up to the equally creepy WowWee Alive Chimpanzee head, this robot comes with the full-blessing of the Elvis Presley estate. What he lacks in sensors and mobility, he makes up for in eerie verisimilitude. There's the dreamy blue eyes, the fine aquiline nose and lip curl that appears and disappear as if the robot were born with it. It has the thick, jet-black hair with a little lock falling across the forehead. The sideburns are pleasingly long and the jacket collar is open to reveal a sweaty-looking chest. The songs the Elvis head sings are actual Elvis recordings to which he does a fair job lip-syncing.

Elvis came with a remote--natural for Wow Wee robot toys--and a cartridge containing "Elvis" phrases and songs. I assume more are forthcoming (the full package goes on sale this summer for $349). The remote also controls which lets the user decide song he performs and switches him from singing to pure interaction.

Though this Elvis is only head and shoulders, he can turn his head, open and close his mouth, blink, look around, and bob his head to his own music. The robot is supposed to be the Elvis of the well-remembered 1968 "Comeback" special, but the heavy-lidded eyes made us wonder if perhaps this could have been bingeing, drug-addicted Elvis of 1977.

You be the judge.

Great idea! Too bad he doesn't quite look like him ( a little Chinese maybe?). Not a bad effort though. I think a 1970's Vegas version with the aviator glasses and longer hair would sell more units. Maybe I can do a make over on this one and turn him into the Vegas Elvis! I think I'm going try!

I would buy this in a heartbeat. I do like the idea of the Vegas EP and I also agree it does not look too much like EP. How do i get one?

I'm sorry, but the thing looks more like k.d.lang than Elvis to me.
