Perhaps attempting to get a bit more competitive against the ever-widening gap between their next gen console and the Wii, or maybe just doing the traditional half-year price drop, Sony has knocked $100 off of the 60GB Playstation 3, making the console a bit more affordable at $499, which means that the donation of one vital organ to the black market should do the trick. Of course, you might want to throw in another, to pick up some games--oh wait, nevermind.
But seriously, folks, Sony also introduced an 80GB version of the system, which sports the old familiar price tag of $599, in case you had that extra Benjamin burning a hole in your soon to be empty pockets.

Sony is out to lunch.
I've been waiting for a number of things to happen with the PS3 before I buy; price is but one.
A $100 price drop means nothing to me. It is still more expensive than the alternatives. But wait, where's the vibration function? Does the 80Gb model feature the Emotion chip, as did the 60Gb? Can I get the 80Gb model without the game, and save cost of the game?
God of War III promised vibration support; if this is to be read as "Vibration is coming to the PS3", then it's in my best interest to wait, and get a machine with the vibrating controllers; if not for that reason, to potentially save even more money, and maybe get a bundle with a game I >WANT
While I wait for the PS3's 1-year anniversary, I'm enjoying playing PS2 games I purchased and have either not finished, or haven't opened. The PS3 is a looser until the price is brought under control, and has the same features I enjoy on the PS2 and more.
What happened to Sony? They used to be "OK" at doing business! The PS2 was the leading console! The Wii with it's inferior graphics, and the Xbox 360 with it's red ring of death are doing better!
Come on Sony! You can have my dollar, when you smarten up.
