TV Packaging

Everyone knows the dilemma of unpacking a big (or even a small) piece of electronics: what do you do with the packaging? If you're lucky, you have an attic, where unwieldy foam blocks can be piled until you move; if not, well then... you have to gamble.

This decision is eliminated with Tom Ballhatchet's new TV packaging design (still a prototype), which can be reassembled into a stand for the TV itself. Nifty, eh? (Although of course, any college student is familiar with the idea of using boxes as furniture).

Even niftier is that the wheels that enabled you to roll the boxed-up TV can be moved to the bottom of the stand, enabling a single person to shift what would otherwise be a hard-to-move piece of furniture.

The prototype is black--but Ballhatchet points out that the foam can be made in any color, with any texture. (Might I suggest something that doesn't scream "packaging foam"?) Still, it finds another purpose for that bulky, otherwise onetime-use packaging. Let's hope the idea gets picked up!
