GoodCleanTech Recycling Superguide
Categories:

maxperks.gifWe'd all like to increase our recycling efforts, but when it comes to certain items, like, say, printer cartridges and cellphone batteries, it's easier said than done. OfficeMax is helping to make the process a touch less painful, via its oddly named MaxPerks membership program.

The newly christened MaxPerks Recycling Program provides customers with recycle containers in their size choice, shipped to them for free. For every ink cartridge or cellphone battery that you send along, OfficeMax will credit your MaxPerks account for $3 (which can be used on any in-store OfficeMax purchase) and will send you another empty recycle container. It's a win-win situation, really. Less landfill fodder is generated and the office supply chain gets a few more repeat customers (and maybe even a few blog posts, if they play their cards right).

Since the inception of their current in-store recycling program in 2005, the company has collected some 13 million ink cartridges. For more information on the program and information on how to sign out, check out the MaxPerks site.

It's too bad you don't offer this or something similar for the regular consumer, not just teachers and small businesses. It's understandable why you favor those 2 since it's likely to bring you more business. Some of us also spend a substantial amount of money at stores like Office Max. Since Office Max, Office Depot and Best Buy are all within a few hundred feet of each other in Eau Claire, it seems like you would look for ways to get us in your store.
