Good news, everybody!* According to Zap2it.com's report from ComicCon, new episodes of hit sci-fi/animated/humor show Futurama will first appear on Nov. 27.
The kicker? They will appear first in DVD form as movies; four are planned. The first, Bender's Big Score, will be released as a DVD on Nov. 27. Comedy Central will then cut the individual episodes from the DVD, with a few random bits of dialogue and scenes added to aid continuity. Yeah, it sounds a bit confusing to us, too.
All of the writers and voice talent have returned. The one cut? The orchestra, which has been replaced with synthesizers. And apparently there's some issues with animated butts, too -- you can't show them on network TV, but you can show them on cable. So apparently a plot device involving a tattoo on Fry's posterior is full speed ahead.
*Yes, we know that technically is used to announce bad news. Bite our shiny metal...ow!

They did the same "cut up the movie into individual episodes" thing for the Family Guy direct to DVD movie as well. Amazingly, it pretty much made sense, aside from turning the season finale essentially into a rerun. Whatever. They could draw it with crayons and play it upside down only on the net for all I care. I just needs me some more Slurm-sponsored content.

I hadn't heard this! You have no idea how excited I am. :)

Futurama is one of the funniest and most creative half hours on TV. Yes, it's another show about the dumb white male, but so what, it's really funny. As good as Simpons, Family Guy.
Go Bender!
