Air_cradle.jpg I've been using Logitech's new MX AIR mouse for a couple of weeks now, both at home and in the office and I have to say I really think it's the next evolution in mousing. It's the best traditional mouse I've ever used, a lot of fun to use in the air, and extra buttons on its sleek black back make it a rudimentary multimedia PC remote. Stealthy under-lit amber lights on all of the buttons are another nice aesthetic touch.

Logitech's reinvented the scroll wheel as well with the MX Air, replacing it with a killer swipe pad. It works so flawlessly, you won't miss the wheel at all. The pad's got virtual momentum and an internal speaker that makes soft clicking sounds when you scroll.

I never thought I'd get excited about a mouse, but the MX Air is pretty close to peripheral perfection. The only real issues I had were flaky on-screen program menus for air mousing, and a lack of Mac support. Seemingly, these are issues that could be solved in future software updates.Whether all this innovation is worth $149.99 is a fair question. But if your PC doubles as a frequent multimedia entertainment device, the MX Air will make your experience a whole lot more enjoyable.

Does this have a laser pointer for presentations?

Unfortunately, no laser pointer is included. But, I would think if you're using PowerPoint, the larger, darker mouse pointer that appears when you mouse in the air, would work fairly well as a software pointer. It's pretty visible on-screen.

I would like to see the newly designed but as yet unmarketted Microsoft Air Mouse called "Soap" to see how it feels and works in comparison.

sounds good, but they will have to pry my Gyration air mouse pro from my Cold Dead Hand. awethumb device, you can use profile templates, or you can create your own including macro's. I feel lost if I'm out and I have to use conventional mouse.
