kangurueco.gifIs this the most environmentally-friendly hard-drive, ever? Kanguru says it is, and why would they lie to you? Whether it is or not it is, the thing boasts some pretty impressive specs, claiming to reduce power consumption by up to 75% (increasing the life of the drive, in the process).

The Eco Drive saves power by shutting down during periods of inactivity. Quoth Kanguru: "The three modes include Idle mode (drive operates at 80% of normal consumption after 3 seconds of inactivity), Standby mode (drive operates at 10-20% of normal consumption after 3 minutes of inactivity) and Power Down (drive operates at 5-10% of normal consumption after 5 minutes of inactivity)."

The USB 2.0 drive comes in sizes up to 750 GB, and is compatible with Windows 98 and above and OS X. SATA support is forthcoming.

The company seems to have missed an opportunity by not coloring the entire case green, but the comet-like green kangaroo gracing the side seems to do the trick.
