Ale Car

Look at this car. Wow. Not only is FuelVapor Technologies' baby clearly the coolest car since...well, ever, this three-wheeled, aerodynamic two-seater also gets 92 miles to the gallon, goes 0-60 in under 5 seconds (even I know that's fast), and has a "super-low" emissions rating.

Again: Wow. The Alé runs on regular gasoline and has been in production for fifteen years... time well spent, I'd say.

More stats:

• 180 horsepower

• 12.9 second ¼ mile time

• 1.7 G's cornering performance

• 75% fewer CO2 emissions than the average hybrid

FuelVapor Technologies plans to start limited production in 2008, and is currently looking for investors to take the Alé into production.

Any takers?

Looks like one of those old European "Bubble Cars" ("Beep beep").

I would have to disagree and say this is absolutely the worst car ever.

I'm with ya Austin,
I'll stick with my 2007 Lotus Exige S.
Sure it doesn't exactly "sip" fuel...
Hella faster by far, and MUCH sexier.

I see from their website they are operating in a lean burn condition, around 20-1. That typically creates an unacceptable level of NOX in the exhaust. I am curious if there has been any independent verification of their claims relating to performance, economy or emissions. I have also seen another company called Vapor Fuel Technologies that has multiple patents on a vapor system that greatly increases fuel economy without the NOX problem and has been verified by an independent test lab. You can check them out at http://www.vftllc.com

Why three wheels?

It only has 3 wheels, because the laws on 3 wheel vehicles are less stringent than those of 4 wheel vehicles. Most 3 wheel vehicles are in the same class as motorcycles.

Both companies recently merged.
The one to which you gave a link, and the one making the car. So the vehicle in the photo uses the very technology to which you refer.
The car can be thought of as an expression of the very technology which you pointed us to in reality; As a developed concept with wheels and presentations, web sites and comments about it even.
It lives!
The site you pointed us to is now a holding company of sorts, In the real world it has gone on to develop this car and may very well be turning up in other places too.
I wonder whether this means that sales of their products to private individuals will be delayed.
There may have been some risk of damaging existing engines which outweighed the release of such things to the mass market perhaps.

Thats not a super cool car.. but have to agree on the emissions if its true its awesome Nobody can do tht easily... However thinking deeply about the emissions if its true and the acceleration ..then have to admit the car must be aerodynamically super efficient so at the end of the day the design gets the credit.
