Solar Powered Golf Cart

Always wanted a solar-powered golf cart? (And who wouldn't?)

Now, you can convert your (otherwise obsolete) golf cart to solar power with a conversion kit by Cruise Car, Inc. The Sunray Solar Roof Kit puts solar panels on the roof of the cart, which can generate up to 180 watts, 60 volts of power, and supply 3 amps to the golf cart's battery.

The press release states that "A golf cart with a solar-panel is ideal for trips around town [or] around the neighborhood" and adds that owners will "not have to give up the vehicle they currently own and enjoy." Whew! I wouldn't have wanted to give up my gas-guzzling golf cart...and now I don't have to!

Cruise Car, Inc. sells solar-powered small vehicles, including a couple different models of golf carts, in case you'd rather not install the conversion kit yourself.

And believe it or not, it gets better: the Federal government will give you a tax credit for converting your golf cart to solar power.

A *hybrid* golf cart wouldn't be too shabby given how often you use the breaks on them!
