Man, the interns get all the fun! Robert Smith, a program manger intern on the Windows Embedded team welcomed the opportunity of not only meeting Bill Gates, but visiting his home. Gates hosted an annual intern barbecue in Medina, WA. Smith writes, "Going down Bill's driveway is like arriving at Jurassic Park...We passed a 15-20 car garage on the way down, though I'm not sure if it was Bill's private one or not as I didn't see any really cool cars in it." There are different kinds of garages? Attendees had to actually ride a shuttle to get to his main house, passing Gates' movie theater, boat, dock, private beach and dock, hot tub, and--get this--an indoor/outdoor pool that has an underwater tunnel, letting you swim between two pools. Gates talked about Microsoft's vision, issues in Latin America, upcoming products, and whether or not he would get an iPhone. (Smith doesn't actually reveal if Gates is planning on buying one or not.) All in all, Smith's time at the Gates mansion was "just really, really, cool." Yeah, I'd say so!
