Gamers and fans of small computers have rallied around Shuttle for years, the unique computer company which has managed to manufacture tiny computers with a lot of horsepower under the hood. Shuttle's machines owe a lot to their feature-rich (yet tiny) motherboards, and Shuttle recently announced that it would begin selling those motherboards as standalone products. The motherboards from its XPC line of computers will be the first, and more may be added in the future.
DIY enthusiasts and computer modding fans are naturally Shuttle's target market here. The news is exciting for people who would rather replace the motherboards in their own Shuttle PCs without having to buy a brand new computer, and for those who build super-small computers (car modders, for example, or people who just love tiny PCs) and like the specs of the Shuttle systems. Unfortunately for people in the latter category, Shuttle motherboards are specially tailored for Shuttle cases, so it might take some work to get them going in other cases, but I'm sure it can be done.
