What happens when flipping someone off, leaning on your horn for two minutes, and just yelling like a crazy person become insufficient for expressing your vehicular state of mind?
Apparently, companies like Roadmaster come along and release scrolling digital license plate frames.
Answering this supposed need for more varied methods of expressing warnings, announcements, and all that pent up rage, Roadmaster announced a new digital license plate that at the very least promises to give your on-road insults an added personal flair.
As a companion to the company's existing scrolling rear deck message system, the new license plate comes with 99 preset words and phrases, such as "Help me," "Slow down," "Turning left," "Your lights aren't working." It'll also let you program 5 interchangeable personal messages of up to 120 characters each.
Roadmaster says that these messages can be combined or repeated to your heart's content. Also, the speed and brightness of the LED can be adjusted with the included wireless remote so that jerk tailgating you won't have any trouble reading your special little LED communiqué.
One warning, however: Before you order your $59 plate, be sure to check local and state regulations. While all states allow non-scrolling messages to be displayed on moving cars, some restrict the use of scrolling messages while the car is on the road. Flashing a message that the plate is indeed legal to the officer pulling you over probably won't work.
