In a rare feat of product-naming simplicity, Panasonic's announced its new Toughbook 52, successor to--you guessed it--the Toughbook 51. But that updated integer packs more punch than you might think.
Aside from a new carrying handle, the Toughbook 52, a desktop replacement notebook, bests its predecessor by adding a 15.4-inch widescreen display, an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, updated security features, and embedded EV-DO or HSDPA. All that, and it keeps its MIL-SPEC-certified goodness: a magnesium alloy casing, spill-resistant keyboard and a shock-mounted removable hard drive.
Available in July, the new Toughbook's standard configuration should run about $1649, with 1GB of RAM, a 1.8-GHz processor, Intel embedded video, and an 80GB hard drive. The "Optimized" version bumps up to a 2.0-GHz processor, a 120GB hard drive, and AMD Mobility Radeon X2300 video--so when you're not on the actual battlefield, you can get your fix with some Battlefield 2142.

I like the 15.4-inch widescreen display, Intel Core 2 Duo processor, and embedded EV-DO. I know a couple people who have this computer and they say it's a long-lasting, good quality computer.
