In my search for weirdness this morning, I came across one of the oddest MP3 players from Japan. It's called the mpion, and it's designed to give the user a "facial" while grooving to tunes. That's right, it's supposed to provide your skin with deep cleansing and massage therapy. I was waiting for a vibrating MP3 player! So how does it actually work? According to Digital World Tokyo, "The idea is that negative ions...can clean skin pores when applied to the face far better than old-fashioned soap and water. Apparently, the two modes that can be activated alternately banish microscopic dirt or help diffuse skin cream." The mpion weighs 35 grams (which is less than a pound), uses 0.185 watts of power, and stores 128MB of MP3s. Gee, something so light, you'd barely know it's in your pocket! Only available in Japan, it sells for 20,790 Yen ($171 USD) at Netyokocho.jp. Pricey for a personal masseuse!
