One of the biggest parts of geekdom is embracing your general nerdiness and taking a second to announce proudly, "Yes, I am a geek, and I'm not ashamed to admit it." But, people might look at you funny if you walked around the street announcing that to people you passed. You need to make a statement in another, more subtle way perhaps. Enter geek jewelry--little bobbles that positively scream "Geek!" to anyone who's paying the slightest bit of attention.
I know what you're thinking, guys: "That jewelry stuff is for girls." Not true. Yes, some things like smiley-faced emoticon necklaces are a tad on the girlie side, but there is a fair amount of male-centered tech bling out there (several are in this roundup alone).
FUN-ctional Computer Key Rings
Brass knuckles may not come in handy too often for someone who's computer-bound for a dozen or so hours a day. But think how badass you would look sporting a fistful of Ctrl+Alt+Del whoopass the next time the blue screen of death rears its ugly head. These spring-loaded rings feel like real keys, and are available for $89 each in one of five varieties: control, alt, delete, escape, and f**k it.
Cell Phone Earrings
Cell phones have gotten pretty tiny--that's for sure. The days of the brick-sized Zack Morris handset are far, far behind us. Granted, phones aren't quite as small as a pendant or ring, but a girl can dream, can't she? These .925 sterling silver earrings can be flipped open or closed and will lock in position to create a matching or mix-and-match pair. Microscope, diskette, and calculator versions are also available for $45 a pair.
Scrolling LED Belt Buckle
This is like the modern age version of Madonna's 'Boy Toy" belt buckle--except it's so much cooler than that! Not only does it scroll through up to 512 programmable characters, you can use those characters in up to six different messages that you can flip among depending on your mood or outfit. On a more practical (ha!) note, you can opt to not use the chrome-plated belt buckle and use it as a nametag. Pimp your belt for
$29.99 at x-tremegeek.com.
Joystick Necklace
Here's one for the gaming gals out there. This silver tone necklace makes me think back on simpler times, when controllers had fewer than 10 buttons, 360-degree angles were unheard of, and Pong was considered cutting-edge. And, for the low price of $10, you can bring that feeling with you wherever you go.
HTML Earrings
I know
we've already gushed over how clever this pair of sterling earrings are, but it's worth repeating. For some, these can serve as a friendly reminder to always close your tags! While others can just chuckle with superiority when they have to explain just how darn witty their jewelry is to HTML neophytes. Format your head for $20 at Etsy.com.
Dot Matrix Wrist Cuff
So, the LED belt buckle is a bit much for you? Too obvious. Perhaps this customizable wrist cuff may be more your speed? Punch out the pre-scored holes to create your personalized message, or use one of the online templates provided by FractalSpin to make sure you don't misspell anything without spell check to track your steps. Made of genuine leather, each cuff will set you back $30.
"Help" Necklace
It's not a cry for help, really. Perhaps just a cute little gift for that troubleshooting friend of yours--you know, the one you call when your iPod flips out on you or when you can't get that stereo rewired. Think of it like the Staples "easy" button, except with a geekier twist. (If that's really possible.) Each sterling pendant and chain is hand made, and can be yours for $38.
Microprocessor Necklace
Here's a bit of bling for the boys. This gold necklace is available with either a 24- or 36-inch chain with a diamond-shaped chip as a pendant. Snap one up quickly, though, FractalSpin only has a few in stock for $50 each.
Circuitboard Cufflinks
As far as tech jewelry goes, these are pretty subdued. From far away, they may even just look like a bit of green jade. In reality though, these links are 3/4-inch circles of circuitboard wiring set in silver-tone metal. What's cooler than that, though, is the box they arrive in is decorated to look like a motherboard. Each pair'll cost ya $64.
Geek Button
This little bobble doesn't mince words. It announces your geekiness loud and proud. Not much else to say, except that at one buck, this one-inch pin is the cheapest way we found to announce your geekhood (other than just, well, being yourself).

Hello fellow nerds. Today I was walking down the street today when I finally decided to embrace my inner nerdiness. I said loud and clear, "I am a nerd and I am proud of it." My mommy is so proud of me, so is my study group! I purchased the computer key rings about 3 weeks ago and have had 5 dates since. They truly bring out the best in me. All of the girl gear is so impressive. Well I have to go study now. So long friends.
