We haven't been able to confirm this yet, so put this under the category of rumor. Blu-ray.com is reporting that a new site has been set up, Bluraysavings.com, supposedly offering rebates for five free movies if a Blu-ray player is purchased between July 1 and September 30. Even better, if you purchase a Sony PlayStation 3, two games, and an extra controller from now until July 8th, you'll receive a $50 gift card. The site goes live July 1, Blu-ray.com reported.
The list of movies is limited, though: 22 titles, according to Afterdawn.com.
Both sites reached the same obvious conclusion: Blu-ray's trying to buy market share. You know what? It just might work.

This isn't anything new for Sony. They did this with their Home Theater DVD Dream Systems. They offered 5 free DVD's with the purchase of one of their systems. The PS3 deal sounds pretty good though. I think this could cause a few people to make the leap.
