Score one for Sony...and Dan Costa--or rather, score 1,700 for both. Blockbuster announced plans, this morning, to increase the Blu-ray inventory at 1,700 of the company's stores, due to, "the growing demand for high-definition DVDs." While the world's largest video rental chain intends to continue stocking both hi-def formats, the move was made in response to, Blu-ray "significantly outpacing HD DVD," and as such, is an unquestionably big blow against Toshiba and NEC's next-generation format. The format war may not be over, but damn, that had to sting.
