abductionlamp.jpg Yeah, Mars Attacks is a pretty mediocre film by Tim Burton standards, but the visuals are cool, and the abduction lamp certainly brings those kooky alien scenes to mind.

There's a light bulb inside that illuminates the windows and the beam. And the base comes off, so you can "beam up" objects of the non-bovine variety as well. They have to do something about the cord though, because it just hangs down the back, ruining the effectiveness of the beam illusion. Maybe they could run it down the inside of the glass and paint it yellow?

Luckily (for my wallet), this thing is still in the concept stage. So if anyone has a better idea of what to do with that pesky power cable, be sure to let the designer know. That way, when I do eventually buy this thing (because you know I have to), I won't be grumbling about its one design flaw for the rest of my life. Then again, I'm sure I'll knock it off my dresser and break it long before then.
