The Wi-Fi Alliance said this week that it had begun interoperability testing for 802.11n "draft" devices, meaning those that are compliant with the 802.11n draft specification. Eight worldwide testing labs will be used. Consumers can expect to see 802.11n Draft 2.0 Wi-Fi certified products on store shelves this summer, the organization said.
The announcement follows the list of the first compliant Draft-n products, released in May. To date, however, only Intel has begun testing products for interoperability with its own "Centrino Duo chipsets, which incorporate 802.11n. It's great to see the Wi-Fi Alliance take a more active role in the certification process, but as we mentioned before, it would have been great to see them leading the charge.
