Everyone's seen those billboards that change their displays every couple of minutes, the ones made up of dozens of vertical flaps that have one image on the front and the other on the back. The front of the billboard says one thing, and then in an instant, all of the flaps turn over to reveal the rest of the ad (or a different ad entirely) on the back. Swedish company Front Design has put that same idea into furniture. The Changing Cupboard can instantly change its surface from pattern to pattern as often as you like and the flaps aren't limited to only two sides. The cupboard can create several different patterns on the front, sides, and back.
The Changing Cupboard is simply a design project, and doesn't appear to serve any purpose aside from being aesthetically interesting, but I can see cupboards with different faces for different purposes. One side can be coated in chalkboard paint for the kids to write on or for messages for the family. Another side can be printed with a mock wood pattern for fancy dinners. Another side can even have a landscape painted on it for a mock picnic. Okay, I'm reaching, but anything's possible. You can check out a video of the Changing Cupboard here. [ via Geekologie ]
