Lexar Media, which manufactures USB drives, has added the JumpDrive Secure II Plus, an improved version of the Secure II, which added 256-bit AES encryption and a "file shredder" that destroys files to the point where they cannot be recovered.
The hook for the Secure II Plus is the addition of an LCD "fuel gauge," which tells you approximately how much of the flash memory is being used to store files. Consumers will be able to purchase the 512MB version for around $20. Additional 1GB, 2GB, and 4GB capacities are available; an 8GB version is planned, Lexar said.

Just when you thought they couldn't innovate flash drives any further...
I think a numerical percentage would have been more helpful than a gas gauge, though.

If I'm not mistaken, that's not an LCD but an electronic ink display. If it shows capacity when the drive's not plugged in, then it definitely is, because there ain't no battery crammed in there.
Seems like I first heard about these about a year ago. It's good to see they're finally making it to market.
