It took a while, but someone has finally discovered the perfect way in which to capitalize on that string of Wii-related tragedies that we reported on, a few months back. Sure, there are plenty of more rational options for protecting your beloved flat screen from a flying Wiimote, such as stronger straps, or even, you know, restraint, but why employee those boring methods, when you can simply slip a big, plastic guard over your bigscreen LCD?

We're not sure of the price yet, as the actual product has yet to show up on Taiwanese TV accessories manufacturer, LCDArm's site, which, aside from being written in extremely broken English, appears to have not been updated since last year, but an e-mail from the company assures us that the product is most assuredly forthcoming. Surely if enough eager consumers start e-mailing the company en masse, we'll see this sucker pretty soon.

The Safety Shield fits 30-46" screens. Need more features for this super-sexy TV sneezeguard? Straight from the PR pitch's mouth:

1. Protection strong impacted resistance.
2. Light transmissive rate over 98%
3. Invisible frame and transparency
4. Protect Panel from scratches and dust.
5. Reduces ultraviolet (UV) rays and health to human eyes ->option

I thought of this when Wii first had the problem of destroying LCD TV's. Now I will by a Wii once this item becomes available. I was'nt about to trash my HD-LCD letting my hyperactive 10yr old go Bowling. Get um' out in the market SOON.

Why wait till it comes out at an outragious price?Run down to your friendly neighborhood Lowes,Home Depot, etc.Get you the following:A piece of good thick Plexiglass(R)big enough to cover your screen plus about an inch on each side,a couple strips of hook and loop fastener, and four rubber "feet" thick enough to hold the "screen" out away from your monitor.Attach the feet in appropriate spots so they won't contact any areas of the screen or controls.Attach one side of the hook and loops to the screen guard and the others to the top of the monitor.I reccomend using a hot-glue gun for this.Install the guard and go nuts.

Listen to disco duck. I am already building one. I have the velcro straps and I just need to go down to home depot to get the sheet of plexi. It will probably cost about $50 between the plexi, the velcro and the "standoffs". I wonder how much this "shield" will sell for!

The best one out there is the original TV Screen Protector. It has saved my butt on more than one occasion. Highly recommended!
