Griffin, which is one my favorite companies--I'm not afraid to say--visited PC Mag's offices yesterday to show off three new iPod dock/speaker sets. My colleagues and I were enamored by the Evolve speakers (above), wireless (RF signal) cube-shaped 4-inch speakers with a range of nearly 300 feet! (unobstructed) We carried them up and down the hall to give them a try with pretty good results--until we turned a corner, that is. The claimed battery life is a whopping 10 hours, good enough to get you through the day or night. To charge the speakers, just place them in the included base. The Evolve will ship in late summer for $349.99.
They also demoed the aptly named Journi portable 3.5mm speakers, which when folded up, resembled an appointment or trapper keeper, if you remember those. The case uses magnets to stay closed and also acts as a stand when the speaker's in use. The Journi charges and syncs your iPod and has a rechargeable lithium ion battery. It also comes with a remote, which is also magnetized so it's hard to lose. The Journi is available now for $129.99. (Images after the jump.)
Finally, we also got a close look at the Amplify 2.1 sound system, which is ideal for an office setting. Sleekly designed, the speaker casing only has the volume dial, which when pressed will pause and resume the music when you need a break. You make recognize this dial as the iconic Powermate. The rest of the controls are on the remote. The Amplify is also available now for $149.99.
All three speakers work with iPods, but also include a line-in connections for other music players, laptops, etc.
