Back in February, AMD posted its DTX motherboard open specification. Now, mobo manufacturers like Gigabyte are finally starting to take advantage of that release.
Yesterday, the company rolled out its Churchill mini DTX motherboard, which will reportedly serve as the backbone for AMD's Live! Home Media Server platform.
Gigabyte says the diminutive board will support the Socket AM2 Athlon 64 and Sempron single- and dual-core processors, and feature a SiS761GX north and SiS966 south bridge, an integrated Mirage 1 graphics core, a single PCIe slot, one PCI slot, six SATA ports, and eight USB 2.0 connectors. The company will also equip Churchill with a header for an optional TPM chip for security purposes.
While pricing was not immediately available, Gigabyte claims the board should be available sometime in July. It should be noted that Tuesday's announcement came just one day after Intel debuted its own SiS-based ITX board, the "Little Valley D201GLY," which will include an integrated 1.33 GHz Celeron (on a 533 MHz front-side bus) processor.
Intel has also said it will be using certain core technologies inherent to its recently released 'Santa Rosa' platform for SFF PCs as well.
