There's a lot more you can do with your iPod than just listen to music. You can sing karaoke with your iPod, plug it into your desk, or even listen to your email or favorite books on it. I know more than a few students who like to use the space on their iPod s that they don't fill with music to record class notes and interviews for research papers.
There are several devices available that let you do this with your iPod, but the XtremeMac MicroMEMO caught my eye. Thanks to the flexible boom microphone that you can attach to the MicroMEMO, you can aim the microphone at the person you need to record, avoiding the "speak into the bottom of my iPod" trick that most people who use their iPods as voice recorders have to learn. The adjustable mic also provides better sound quality than some of the other iPod voice recorders on the market, and fits the profile of your iPod without bulky plugs or adapters. If the adjustable microphone isn't good enough for your recording needs, you can replace it with any microphone with a standard 3.5-inch plug. You don't have to load any software on your iPod, and the built-in speaker allows you to play back your voice recordings without the need for headphones. It's available in silver and black for both the iPod Nano and Video directly from XtremeMac for $59.95. [via geekBlue ]
