In 2004, LG launched a refrigerator with a 13-inch TFT LCD built in. People laughed. People scoffed. Apparently, people bought, too.

For now, LG has added a fridge/freezer with an HDTV installed. Actually, check that -- it's an entire entertainment center, so you can watch Lost while you grab some veggies for a salad. That is, if you eat salad; if you have the disposable income to buy this, do you even need a refrigerator? You should have a personal chef and tiramisu flown in from Palermo.

Actually, we kid. When you look at the price of a gaming PC, the LG HDTV Refrigerator, model LSC27990TT, is relatively cheap: just $3,999. Availability will begin in the second quarter. Specs after the jump.

And these are some specs indeed. No Bou-ray or HD-DVD, but pretty much everything else, including a built-in ATSC-QAM-NTSC digital television tuner.

In addition to a remote-controlled, cable-ready, high-definition LCD screen and FM radio on the right door, the unit features a DVD connection on top of the unit for hours of kitchen entertainment. The left door of the sleek side-by-side unit also includes a four-inch Weather & Info Center LCD display located above the ice and water dispenser complete with an advanced digital control display and special features.

Recipes? Sure, it's got em: 100 in all. Weather forecasting? Check? Digital photo album? As if. Calendar? Yep, although no Outlook connectivity, which probably kills it for me right there. It even makes ice inside the door, so you don't have to waste valuable freezer space.

It'll be on display at the 2007 Kitchen & Bath Industry Show in Las Vegas. So if you're in town, stop by.
